SCULPTURE & EMOTION, ART IS EXPRESSION
THE PROLOGUE
STORIES OF
THE ARTIST
"A pinch of romance engulfed by earthen clay, so softly shaped between the touch of moving fingers amidst the subtle warmth of sunlight so early in the day."

While many things can represent an idea born of the mind, art expressively recreates the feelings behind that idea. Things that are often left unexplained by logical reason, such as emotions, beliefs and aspirations, evolve and come together into a single peerless rendition for the whole of society to interpret and appreciate.
A ball of earthen clay or a block of uncarved wax, can in a matter of weeks, acquire the sensory likeness of someone's most cherished youthful memory.
SCULPTING ELEGANCE
A MODERNIST AT
THE HEART OF ASIA

"Born into a lineage of Chinese artists, Kylo Yu Chua sets his own tone of soft grandeur to the notion of modern abstract sculpting. His visually demure, almost serpentine mannerism for contouring the curves and crevices of his subject's natural composition, aligns playfully with the elevated sense of gravitational movement displayed by his pieces." -Artscape Group UK, 2016

A JOURNEY INTO ART

Kylo began his foray into creative world of art by embarking on a solo exploration around the vastly evolving societies of post-millennial Asia, a constantly vibrant and ever-changing world of multicultural influences and enigmatic ideologies.

Distinct examples from his original collection, encompassing a penchant for fine sculpture through a wide diversity of materials, would often be exhibited quarterly at the Artasia Gallery in his residence country of the Philippines.

THE ENIGMA OF STYLE

In 2006, Chua's very first abstract creation was unveiled at the left wing of the Artasia Gallery's inaugural sculptural show. His personally selected motif revolved around the graceful movement displayed by the female form, heightened when in a state of pure serendipity.

Although he began with simply shaping clays and mixing resins during his early years, Kylo's current media preferences include an array of diverse materials, such as cast-marble, various polymers, fire-cast bronze, white porcelain, 14K & 18K gold.

By the late 2016, Kylo began work on a series of thumbelline sculptures, miniaturist figurines, each portraying a subject of art, intricately drawn out from penciled sketch and crafted meticulously with the finest elements workable by a modern-day artisan.
