This section showcases a collective archive of featured documentaries, photography rolls and video narrations regarding the art process of Kylo Chua, as interpreted by the different galleries and media personalities of his past exhibitions.

While many things can represent an idea born of the mind, art expressively recreates the feelings behind that idea. Things that are often left unexplained by logical reason, such as emotions, beliefs and aspirations, evolve and come together into a single peerless rendition for the whole of society to interpret and appreciate.
A ball of earthen clay or a block of uncarved wax, can in a matter of weeks, acquire the sensory likeness of someone's most cherished youthful memory. Sculpture is one of the most intuitive artforms of mankind. We intentionally change the shapeless into something of personal recognition and intimate familiarity.

GENERATIONS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

Kylo Chua began learning about sculpting techniques from his father; artist Seb Chua, at the modest age of 17. Most of their study sessions involved raw clayworking and mastering the foundations of contemporary figure shaping. The father and son team, together with architect Maximo Chan, later opened up a quaint art atelier within the city suburbs. They eventually formed a devote group of sculpture enthusiasts during the beginning months of 2006, which held its weekly activities and workshops on the premises as well. This small, co-working space housed the artist's first ever eve sculptures, which were slowly crafted by window side during the early hours of the day, before morning classes would begin at the Ateneo de Manila university.

"From his tenure as an apprentice sculptor to the early years where he had begun to establish a name for himself within the Asian art communities, Kylo tightly held on to a visual motif that he very much enjoyed creating. His most personal works resemble those ribbon-like trailings of light when streams are captured at certain conditions in a still photograph. The almost lace-like, entwined nature of his artistic style became a central element in the early development of his provocatively beautiful series." -Samantha Tee, Painting Asia | July 2014

The various productions housed in this archive are shared with us through the efforts of each featurette's corresponding artist organisation, fine arts gallery, creative workshop, online blog, network channel or TV program. Gallery curators may distribute visual assets to media correspondence teams from the fields of art journalism, news and education, after obtaining proper permission from the artist or his assigned representatives.

Throughout the past ten years, Kylo Chua has been practicing abstact sculpture through contemporary elegance and modernity. His style of craftsmanship can be seen in the near-edgeless forms and woven anatomies of his intertwining subjects. Much of his portfolio accentuates the already pre-existent beauty of his original muses, such as a graceful dancer's body in motion, or two lovers locked in an eternal embrace.
